Religion is one of the creations of man in his quest towards identification of the nature of God and purpose of life. It has effectively played this role in every tribe, race, people and nation. It has led to a unifying faith that life originated from somewhere or created by a being and that everything in life has a purpose. It also pointed to a direction that there is an end which subsequently becomes perpetual perfection. It tries to define God especially through the eyes of man. As man progresses, religion will at the end of the day become extinct because it was built on faith. Once everything comes to reality through discoveries and the nature of the creator is identified with the purpose of life, belief or faith would disappear. Most of the things shrouded in faith and mystery in religion has been uncovered by knowledge and discovery except perhaps the real purpose of life and the true nature of God. For religion, God has been discovered. The purpose of life is to worship and praise him as well as pray to him to assist in solving all human problems.
In religion, God has the nature of man because he is created out of God’s image and likeness. God is the extreme nature of man. That is he sees all, knows all and is everywhere. For this to be credible, God has to be spirit and mystery. Nobody in the religious circle is allowed to question this belief out of fear that God would punish such person. In religious circle, the good people belong to God while the bad ones are controlled by another all-powerful God; the Devil or Satan. Religious world revolves unchangeably around this changeable God controlled by man, the books he wrote and the people he sent to deliver his message. Anyone who does not believe in any of these is condemned by man.
Many have been killed and persecuted because they did not believe in all these. Through religion, man fights for God, reads his mind and controls his emotions. Many things hanging on faith and mysteries have been exposed through discovery. That’s the path of God. Life evolves from beliefs to discoveries and then to perfection. Religion is one of those tools that seeks to understand the full knowledge of God and cannot be neglected when writing the story of the evolution of life. It is a phase in the dynamic nature of man. Just as some people are still retaining some old cultures, traditions, food, houses and tools, many are still retaining the old beliefs in religion with the conviction that they are unchangeable and infallible.
