In a tale of resilience and triumph, Jaydiran Seriki, from Nigeria, defied the odds to graduate with first-class honors in Civil Engineering from Southern Texas University.
After the heart-breaking loss of both parents in 2022, Jaydiran transformed her grief into motivation, earning a Summa Cum Laude distinction and securing spots on the President’s List and Dean’s List.
Initially a commercial student in Nigeria, she bravely switched to a scientific focus, with her mother by her side every step of the way. In her heartfelt graduation post, she celebrated her parents’ enduring legacy, stating, “I carry their memories as I toss my cap into the air.”
