Very soon, many people would be left behind in their struggle for separation and disunity as the world is turning into one big family. Many people don’t know that unconsciously, the world is coming together as one. What seemed like differences in colour, tribe, race, location, language, culture and tradition is gradually being united today in marriage, sports, religion, politics, science and technology, migration, religion, career and language. Africans are getting married to Asians and Americans. Americans are sharing cultures with Africans and Asians. European are migrating to Africa and sharing their culture and language. Africans are taking political positions in Europe and America as well as representing them in sporting activities. The whole continents are sharing cultures, traditions, religions and politics. Racial and tribal discrimination have drastically reduced. One’s indigene can no longer be placed on one’s place of birth, ancestral home, language, culture and environment because these have shown to be by accidents.
One of the challenges human beings encounter is the discrimination that come as a result of their physical location, groups where they belong and the biological circumstances. I wish to state that all these conditions are by accident. What do I mean by that?
You are a Nigeria, an American, a Jew, Japanese and a Scot because you were born in a certain location. Your been born in that location is by accident. You didn’t chose to be born there neither did God state that you must be born there. This may be contrary to the views of those who believe in destiny.
You are a medical doctor, an engineer, a musician, a priest, a pilot or a teacher is by accident of nature. You were not created to be any of this by God because these institutions were created and named by man. You can actually choose any of these professions, change them or change somebody to take them. You are black, white, or red, not because God wants you to be so but through biological accident. No colour is superior to another one. It is just a condition that is inherited biologically. It is by accident of war and conquest, search for basic needs, adventure etc. that brought people together. The nature of man and the forms our bodies take and the reason for such are gradually being identified everyday through science and discoveries.
If you are born in a Muslim family or Muslim nation, you are likely going to be a Muslim. So will you be, if you are born and raised in a Christian environment. If your environment has schools, you’d be educated. You speak the language you met in your environment and eat the food that is available within your environment. Certain behaviours are adopted from specific environments. They are just by accident of dwelling. If you hadn’t lived in such environment, you wouldn’t adopt such characters or behaviours.
Every time we see ourselves as different people; white, black, Jew, Gentile, Hausa, Igbo, Christian, Muslim, educated, illiterate, rich and poor, God appears to us differently too. But anytime we see ourselves as one people devoid of racism, tribalism, nepotism, favoritism and treat each other as brothers and sisters with love, we’d begin to see God as one. We’d use our different backgrounds and potentials to enthrone unity, justice and right as children of one father.
So don’t discriminate against others as a result of any of these because it could be you too. It is important to start accommodating other religions, races, professions, and institutions outside your own. We are from the same source and have the same purpose. Collectively we can achieve the purpose of why we are created. Let us transform our society by bringing the best in us instead of showing the difference in us. We’d achieve more through unity than through division. Love is the basis for enthronement of morals and values.
