The United Igbo Elders Council (UNIEC) Worldwide, in partnership with The Great Igbo Achievers Initiative, is proud to announce the upcoming celebration of The Great Igbo Achievers’ Legacy Day; a historic cultural milestone dedicated to honouring distinguished sons and daughters of Igbo heritage who have made indelible marks across various fields of human endeavour, both locally and globally.
This initiative aligns with the Igbo Think-Home Investment and Developmental Philosophy of “Aku Ruo Ulo”, which promotes positive societal values and the right ideals within the Igbo community.
The Great Igbo Achievers’ Legacy Awards prioritizes landmark achievements and impactful legacy projects, with verifiable evidence as the core criteria for recognition. Political status, party affiliation, or religious background play no role in the selection process, merit and legacy are the only yardsticks.
The Legacy Day and Awards is a yearly event, organized to celebrate and honour the outstanding impact and uncommon accomplishments of captains of industry, accomplished entrepreneurs, and other exemplary individuals across all Igbo-speaking states.
Alaigbo, the ancestral homeland of the Igbo people is globally renowned for resilience, ingenuity, industriousness, entrepreneurship, and creative excellence. This celebration of exceptional Igbo sons and daughters is a continuation of time-honoured Igbo and universal values of excellence and integrity.
A major highlight of this momentous occasion will be the official unveiling of The Igbo Book of Records; a prestigious compendium designed to document and immortalize the groundbreaking accomplishments, innovations, and noble contributions of great Igbo personalities, past and present.
This landmark publication is aimed at inspiring future generations, preserving the legacy of excellence, and asserting the rich intellectual and cultural identity of the Igbo people.
The Great Igbo Achievers’ Book of Records is a comprehensive compendium celebrating the outstanding accomplishments of Igbo achievers both within Nigeria and across the diaspora. Rooted in the spirit of “Aku Ruo Ulo”, the book seeks to promote enduring values and uphold the noble ideals of the Igbo community.
Jointly published by The Great Igbo Achievers Initiative and UNIEC Worldwide, the book constructively showcases landmark achievements and legacy-defining projects. It includes recognitions of State Governors, members of the National Assembly, and other prominent individuals from the Igbo-speaking states who exemplify integrity, diligence, and commitment to public good.
Selection is strictly merit-based, relying solely on verifiable accomplishments and impactful contributions. Political or religious affiliations are not considered.
This book proudly honours the transformative efforts of Igbo men and women making lasting contributions to their communities and the world.
According to His Lordship, Justice Alpha Ikeama, the Director Generalof UNIEC Worldwide, “this grand event seeks to ignite a renewed sense of purpose, pride in heritage, and a united vision for Igbo progress. It will bring together elder statesmen, achievers, academics, youth leaders, traditional institutions, and cultural ambassadors in a grand celebration of Igbo excellence.”
