HRH, Eze (Amb.) Nicholas Emenike Njoku is the Eze-Igbo Ohazurumee of Aigbaka, Oke Afa, Ejigbo, Lagos and also the Ezi okwu bu ndu of Abazu Kingdom in Ikeduru local government area of Imo State. Since his coronation two years ago by the Igbo community in Lagos, he has shown zealous concern towards the promotion of Igbo customs, culture and tradition in Nigeria. As the Chairman of Ndi Eze Imo State in South West and Diaspora, he is working towards the unity and progress of all Igbos within his constituency and beyond. Eze Njoku, a United Nations Ambassador has promised to work closely with other traditional rulers, Igbo organizations and institutions to ensure the total fulfilment of his vision with the shortest given time.

Eze Nicholas Njoku is a go getter and has a strong knack for profitable business areas. He is a solution provider with a winning formula at his fingertips. He could be said to be a King Midas because he is blessed with the gods that whatever he lays his hands turn to gold. This quality endeared him to many people particularly the youths of Nigeria. He inspires confidence in people and is unconditionally loyal to his friends and family and would go to any extent to support friends no matter the position or class they belong.
Eze Njoku abhors lies, greed, injustice and ingratitude because these vices are adverse to building trust and lasting relationships. He strongly believes that such malevolence cannot build any nation. He equally believes that if one’s relationship with people is built upon false foundation, it reduces the level of trust that people will repose in one thereby eliciting hindrances to future favors. According to Eze Njoku, wealth is not about the physical cash and show of opulence but one’s ability to establish positive relationship with people over a period of time on the basis of trust.
Eze (Amb) Nicholas Emenike Njoku is an easy going leader to work with. He is also strong willed but applies diligence, wisdom and integrity in any decision he wishes to take all the time. He is a team player who does a lot of consultations to enable him arrive at an objective decision. The King strongly believes in the power of God and believes that God as a standard bearer through whose guide all must follow. Perhaps, that is why he is so courageous, fearless and firm on any issues he handles. He is of the view that any mandate that emanates from God cannot be destroyed by mere human.
The leadership qualities of Eze Njoku could be said to be divine. He does not struggle for power or leadership but rather allows the voice of the people which is the voice of God to intervene whenever the opportunity arises. It is not surprising therefore when he was approached by the Igbo community in Lagos to be their leader and Eze. Coming from a royal family, (his Uncle is the traditional ruler of his home community in Imo State), he had to consult his family and home community to ensure there was no clash of interest before accepting the offer. He did not consider the responsibility as that of show of authority but a mandate to serve Igbo people in other parts of the country.
Eze Njoku retained his title of Ezi okwu bu ndu (Truth is life) since it is his established philosophy of life and the insignia on which his leadership revolves around. At his coronation, he maintained that all his activities and programmes would be directed by God. Since God is love, truth and justice, all his decisions would be on those tenets. Secondly, he wants the Igbo community to see him as a King who will continue to unite them, protect their interests and fight for their wellbeing. Eze Eziokwu bu ndu does not follow the crowd but is known for his disciplined independent mind especially in following the right direction to equity.
He promised to make the Igbos, ndi oha na eze (those respected and feared by the people) instead of Igbo na eze oha (Igbos that fear and respect the people) which they have recently adopted. This will restore the dignity of Igbos wherever they are.
The traditional ruler said he will do this through the re-establishment of Igbo culture and tradition and make them sacrosanct all over the world. By so doing, Igbos will regain their pride of place among various global tribes and nations. The children will be taught Igbo language and made to appreciate their culture wherever they are.
Furthermore, it has been his desire to work with other traditional rulers, Ohaneze and Igbo speaking community leaders to lay an enviable foundation from where Igbo youths will be proud of their language, culture, tradition and heritage and adopt such as a legacy.
Eze Nicholas Njoku is a successful business man with investments in various sectors. But his most important investment is in human capital development. He led the pack of those who assisted in turning many Igbos and non-Igbos into successful people all over the world. In as much as he always encourage his people to be law abiding wherever they find themselves, he also believes that such loyalty and obedience to the law and culture of other people brings goodwill, peace and harmony.
When this humble king noticed that some traditional rulers especially outside Igbo land see their throne as avenues to amass wealth and gain political positions, he decided to work with many other honest ones who have the fear of God to redirect their mission towards the unity of Igbos and for the common good of all. This onerous task did not go down well with some Ezes but he was not deterred. It rather made many of his colleagues to respect and trust him despite his youthful age and short period of his coronation.
Eze Nicholas admonishes other traditional title rulers to fear God and always remember that all power and kinship belongs to God almighty, it can never be contested. He became a rallying point for other Eze Ndi Igbo and subsequently, he was chosen as the leader of Eze Ndi Igbo of Imo state extraction in the South West and Diaspora.
Eze Njoku still want to be known for truth which has become his watchword. He is aware that many people look up to him for justice, peace and progress within the community. He is aware of the challenges that will come with his position and has armed himself physically, mentally and spiritually to carry out the task. Having built his faith on the fact that whoever is an Eze should avoid evil, and also recognizing the fact of being imperfect as a man, he always work to ensure leadership by example which goes with honour and due respect.
Eze Nicholas Njoku has been honoured and received awards by different groups, institutions, organizations and people.
