The Hackathon, a forward-thinking initiative of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Special Assistant to the Governor on Digital Economy, showcased the brilliance, creativity, and untapped potential of Abia youths through innovative civic-tech solutions. They were received by the Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti at the Executive Chambers of the governor’s office.

The three outstanding teams had the opportunity of presenting their groundbreaking applications before Abia State Executive Council. They are:

Oluora – A web-based platform by Team Alpha that connects citizens to government in real time.

iAbia – A hybrid Web/Mobile solution by BluTech Innovations that tracks government activities and enhances feedback.

And Voice Out – A civic engagement tool that empowers residents to report issues such as bad roads, power outages, and security concerns directly to the government.

Receiving them, the Governor directed the Honourable Commissioner for Science and Technology and the State Chief Information Officer to integrate the best features of these solutions into the state’s evolving ICT architecture.

It was a proud moment witnessing firsthand how the youths are leading the charge towards a smarter, more inclusive, and more accountable Abia. The governor promised to support innovation and celebrate excellence.
